Curriculum Design

  • Highly Competitive AP Program

Twenty-first Century School is one of the first schools in China to introduce AP courses. Our school offers more than 20 AP courses for students to choose from, and the school's philosophy is to contextualize and localize this international curriculum.

Teachers will carefully create lesson plans suitable for Chinese students and school-based resources tailored to students at different levels of understanding, so that the international curriculum can really be smoothly articulated. As a College Board-authorized school, all of our AP teachers are registered with the College Board and some of them have doctoral degrees. For eight consecutive years, our students' pass rate on the AP exams has been higher than the national and global rates. As of August 2023, our school has accumulated 358 AP Scholars, 215 AP Scholars with Honor, and 367 AP Scholars with Distinction. In addition, the Senior High School Department has introduced AP Capstone, the most difficult AP course, which is a reflection of students' stronger academic ability and can add weight to the COMMON college application system for students to gain more favor with colleges.
